EA Wolves win Mound City Basketball Tournament- The East Atchison Wolves Basketball Team traveled to Mound City, Missouri, this past week to compete in a tournament. The Wolves came away with the championship win!
The Wolves played North Nodaway in their first game. EA won 57-46. Gage McAdams led the Wolves with 17 points (five three-pointers), followed by Brody Cooper with 14, Garrett Meyer with 10, Jake McEnaney with eight (one three-pointer), Dylan Jeffords with four (one three-pointer), and Mason Straub and Shae DeRosier with two each. Coach Robbies Bates commented, “We had to overcome a slow start, but the boys kept fighting and got stops when we needed them.”
The Wolves competed against South Holt on November 30 in their second game of the tournament. The Wolves won the contest 73-63. Brody Cooper was on the prowl, scoring 27 points (three three-pointers). Gage McAdams also had a great game, scoring 26 points (two three-pointers). Adding to the Wolves’ score were Garrett Meyer with six, Shae DeRosier and Dylan Jeffords with five each, and Jake McEnaney with four. Coach Robbie Bates said, “It was a great win over a very solid South Holt team. We kept attacking offensively. We got stops when we needed them.”
The win advanced the Wolves to the championship game against Nodaway-Holt. East Atchison won the game and tournament with a score of 71-64. Brody Cooper had another fantastic game, scoring 26 points (three three-pointers). Also scoring for the Wolves were Gage McAdams with 18 points (three three-pointers), Jake McEnaney with 12, Garrett Meyer with 10, Dylan Jeffords with three (one three-pointer), and Shae DeRosier with two. Coach Bates remarked, “This was a great team win. The kids stayed mentally tough and got the job done. We keep improving every game.”

Lady Wolves compete in Mound City Tournament- The East Atchison Lady Wolves Basketball Team traveled to Mound City, Missouri, this past week to compete in a tournament.
The Lady Wolves competed against Nodaway-Holt in their first game of the tournament on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. The girls won the game 51-31. Jaycee Graves led the Lady Wolves with 12 points, followed by Lily Graves with 11 points (one three-pointer), Tawni Martin and Kinley Thornhill with six points each, Madison Ohrt and Goldie Barnes with five points each, and Kilea Cooper and Alyssa Garrison with three points each.
The Lady Wolves competed against Rock Port Lady Blue Jays Wednesday, November 30. East Atchison lost the game 34-42. Goldie Barnes led the Lady Wolves with 11 points, followed by Tawni Martin with seven (two three-pointers), Jaycee Graves with five, Kinley Thornhill with four, Chloe Bruns, Lily Graves, and Alyssa Garrison with two points each, and Kilea Cooper with one point.
The loss put the Lady Wolves up against Northland Christian for the third place prize. EA lost the game 35-51. Kilea Cooper led EA with 11 points, followed by Jaycee Graves with nine, Lily Graves and Kinley Thornhill with six each, and Tawni Martin, Goldie Barnes, and Madison Lesher with one point each.

JH Lady Wolves compete against Mound City- The East Atchison 7th grade basketball team competed against Mound City, Missouri, Monday, November 28, 2016. The Lady Wolves lost the game 18-22. Sophia Martin scored six points for EA, followed by Haley Garrison with five (one out of five free throws), Alexis Brown with four, and Jaecey Hill with three (one out of two free throws).
No boys’ stats were provided.

EA Jr. High Basketball Teams defeat St. Gregory’s- The East Atchison Jr. High Basketball Teams hosted St. Gregory’s in Fairfax, Missouri, Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
The Lady Wolves were successful in defeating St. Gregory’s with a score of 44-10. Mercedes Parshall led EA with 16 points (four three-pointers). Also adding points were Morgan Parshall with 12 (two three-pointers), Cheyenne Gray with six, Brynnan Poppa with four, Bryli Staten with four (two out of two free throws), and Allison Yates with two.
St. Gregory’s was no match for the Wolf Pack, as East Atchison won the game 45-15. Ian Hedlund led the Wolves with 17 points, followed by Kaden Cooper with 10, Josh Smith with five, Kaylin Merriweather and Jordan Graf with four each, Carter Holececk and Hunter Bennett with two each, and Titus Eaton with one. Coach Robbie Bates said, “Our goal right now is to keep getting better every game. This was a solid win.”

EA Jr. High Basketball Teams win against Nodaway-Holt- The East Atchison Jr. High Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Teams hosted Nodaway-Holt in Tarkio on December 1, 2016. Both EA teams won their games.
The Lady Wolves won their game 42-23. Morgan Parshall led EA with 17 points (one three-pointer and two out of five free throws). Adding to the score for EA were Cheyenne Gray with eight points (two out of three free throws), Brynnan Poppa with six, Allison Yates with four, Mercedes Parshall with three points (one three-pointer), Autumn Murry with two points, and Olivia Morris with two points (two out of two free throws).
The Wolves won their game 56-6. Ian Hedlund scored 12 points for the Wolves, followed by Jordan Graf and Kaden Cooper with eight each, Hunter Bennett with seven, Carter Holecek with six, Josh Smith with five, Kaylin Merriweather with four, and Bo Graves, Aaron Schlueter, and Titus Eaton with two each. Coach Robbie Bates remarked, “This was a good team win. The kids played hard and took care of business.”

Jr. high and high school Christmas dances- The Tarkio Jr. High and High School Christmas dances will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the Tarkio Community Building. The Jr. High Ball will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. and the High School Ball will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. Free will donations will be accepted at both dances to pay to adopt a family this holiday season.

No late start- School will be in session at Tarkio R-I Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at 8:00 a.m. (no late start). School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. this day.

Christmas concert- The Tarkio Junior High and High School Christmas concert is Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be held in the high school auditorium.
